Hello Richard, I think even a non expert like me can say that. I find the most interesting part, for what is visible from the photo, are the head and the left arm of Saint Lawrence as well as the right hand of one of the executioners, like said in the article.
Clearly it was his brother Pete Caravaggio; itinerant cobbler and hobbyist painter. Not many people know, but it was Pete who gave Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio his first set painting lessons; and his first pair of shoes.
